There remains for us only the very narrow way, often extremely difficult to find, of living every day as though it were our last, and yet living in faith and responsibility as though there were to be a great future...

U-verse home DVR

I received a phone call from AT&T; yesterday, notifying me that my equipment had been updated to use the DVR throughout the house.  I really like the innovation of this.  Rather than having separate DVRs, one DVR that communicates over the network.  I can now have all my recordings accessible on any TV.

So last night, I went to a different TV other than the one with the DVR, and turned it on (the TV doesn’t get much use, so I unplugged the AT&T; box).  After it did the software update, which took about 10 minutes, I was able to access the recorded programs from the DVR.
A couple of things that I found:
1.  The fast forward/rewind controls work more slowly than the DVR.  I assume this is because of slight network lag.  Not a big deal, but noticeable (at least to me).
2.  I didn’t have the options to delete recorded programs.  I wonder if I can only do that with the DVR box.  Or if I record something on a different box, would I have “permission” to delete it as well?  I guess I’ll have to figure that out.
Overall, I’m very happy with U-Verse, having had it since January.  I’ve had very few outages, and by outage, I mean where the picture freezes for a second.  As far as a prolonged period without service, I really can’t remember.  I think that it is very stable for my needs, and the Internet has been solid as well.   Others must feel the same way, since it seems like every day or two, the AT&T; truck is at the junction box at the corner of my development, connecting someone else….
