There remains for us only the very narrow way, often extremely difficult to find, of living every day as though it were our last, and yet living in faith and responsibility as though there were to be a great future...

OLM.net / Serveraday.com

Just wanted to inform those who read my blog about a good deal I found on the web. If you are looking for a dedicated server, take a look at serveraday.com.  They are offering deals each day on dedicated server rentals.  As you might have guessed, I took them up on one of their offers.  Sometimes you can find servers as low as $24.95/month, which I have to believe does not make them any money.  In my case, I got a server that costs a little bit more, but I get a SCSI disk and was able to negotiate an extra by paying for a year in advance.

So you get 2500GB/month, which is like an average sustained transfer rate of 7.5 mbit/sec.  Unless you are running very high traffic sites, or supporting large downloads, you will probably not hit this limit.
I found that the sales and tech support people are great to work with, and my server has been set up with no issues.  Another reason I mention serveraday.com is because they are a “local” business here in CT, and it is good to support local companies.
So if you are looking for an inexpensive development server, deals can be found.  If you need something more than inexpensive, you can go to olm.net for more options.  They have machines all the way from single core to quad-core.
