Once in a great while, I’m amazed at the similarities between engineering disciplines, and how similar principles apply. The other day at work, we were reviewing placing a closed loop control system in a test stand. Being more of an electrical person, the analogy was used of putting a sensor further downstream to be able to better control a pressure, would be like using remote voltage sense lines on a power supply.
I’m equally amazed at how many mathematical tools and computational tools are available for compiling data on quality and processes. Data can be analyzed so many ways with the push of a button now. And to think, that the iPod Touch and the Windows Mobile Smartphone I carry around all day have more power than the TI-99/4A I had growing up. It’s just truly remarkable.
I marvel at the way we can see order and design in the laboratory….
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (ESV)
