So I decided to buy a Macintosh computer for the kids. Well, ok, my ulterior motive is to learn how to program Apple devices. I think the first application I downloaded that installed right was the Xcode development suite. So I now I have to learn Objective-C, I guess. I’m not terribly thrilled to have to learn another language, but why not….. Maybe it will help my resume?
I am impressed with the graphics and the way that Apple does things in an appealing way. It is a refreshing change from the world of Microsoft, where there really hasn’t been that much excitement. I’m hoping that this will inspire some creativity.
I like the UNIX-based command prompt. That really is great, as I’ve been wanting to keep up my unix skills, but haven’t really done much with Linux or FreeBSD of late. If I can teach my kids how to use UNIX, that would be great, but they are probably many years away from that. But you never know, I started typing in BASIC programs at 5 years old…..
