There remains for us only the very narrow way, often extremely difficult to find, of living every day as though it were our last, and yet living in faith and responsibility as though there were to be a great future...

Considering the benefits of the AT&T Unity plan

If you haven’t heard, the AT&T; Unity plan for their cellular service works by allowing unlimited calls to any AT&T; phone, even if it is a landline. You have to have the unlimited long distance package on your landline phone in order to qualify for this, as I understand. For about two months, we subscribed to this as a FamilyShare plan.

Overall, it was great, as where I work has AT&T;, and so do many of my friends and family. It was convenient to be able to call phones at work while at work, to use my phone as a mobile work phone and not worry about burning up my minutes. Since most of my mobile calls are to my home phone, I ended up using very little daytime and peak cellular minutes.

We did switch back to the regular 700 minute FamilyShare plan this month. I was finding that the Unity plan left us with many unused minutes, which is a good thing, but it also seemed like we were wasting money.

I switched back to the regular FamilyShare plan, because while both prices are the same, the Unity plans are not eligible for corporate discounts. Considering I get a discount of 21%, I would rather save my money.

Since I do have U-verse, maybe if I switch my landline over (which I’m not in a hurry to do), maybe I’d switch back to Unity to see how the combined voicemail works. I’m not sure if I really want to switch everything over just to have that feature. Now, if AT&T; offered the corporate discount on the Unity plan, I’d switch back just to get all the extra minutes.

I’d recommend Unity for anyone needing to make many calls in an AT&T; area to landlines. I know it saved me hundreds of minutes when I had it.
