One thing that has always been an annoyance of mine is how short the life of a laptop battery can be. I don’t think I’ve been able to get more than two years out of any laptop battery I’ve had. I know that there are only so many charge cycles that a battery can go through, and they even deteriorate over time. Most extended warranties do not cover a battery beyond 1 year.
My laptop battery was only giving me about 20-30 minutes of runtime. I decided that since my battery new would cost around $150, I would look into other options. I found batteryrefill.com, and for $70, which included shipping both ways, I could have my old battery cells removed from the pack, replaced with fresh ones, and then sealed back up. The only negatives that I read were that they sometimes take a long time, beyond the two weeks that they mention on the website. So I sent out my battery, and got it back in three weeks. That wasn’t too bad, especially since the refill happened right around Thanksgiving, so I can’t be too critical that it came back a week later.
The battery is now giving me about 2 hours and 30 minutes with light use, which is what it was like when I bought the machine new. I’d recommend batteryrefill.com to anyone looking to save money when they need to replace their laptop battery. The only time I would suggest buying a new battery is if you cannot wait for the refill process.

Thanks for the tip. Seeing that we have 5 laptops in our family (three kids in college) as well as the two my husband has for work, that should save us some REAL money. I think the battery is starting to go on this one already and we’ve only had it since May (heavy usage!!!)
