There remains for us only the very narrow way, often extremely difficult to find, of living every day as though it were our last, and yet living in faith and responsibility as though there were to be a great future...

New Server

For several reasons, I’ve decided that I needed to get a new, quieter server. I switched from a rackmount system that is loud, to a much quieter tower.

Now, of course, the problem is migrating everything and keeping all the Active Directory information intact, and the Exchange mailboxes, etc.

I decided to purchase the Swing Migration kit, and so I’ll post how things go through the process.

So far, I have software installed on the new server, and then I also have the temporary domain controller up and running. So soon it will be time to start moving things over from one to the other.

The goal here is to be able to unplug the old server, plug in the new server, and have all the workstations humming along as if nothing happened. If I’m successful, then I can sell the old server.
